Dr. Frances Clairmont DMD

In 1990, Dr. Frances Clairmont started what is known today as Abington Dental Associates, Inc. Her dream was to offer high quality dental healthcare to the families of Abington and surrounding communities in a gentle, caring and thoughtful manner. In order to accomplish her goal, she engaged highly qualified multi-specialists to work together in a state of the art practice for the benefit of the community. She believed Abington Dental Associates, Inc. could make a positive difference due to the lack of fluoridation and high caries rate in our area.

Dr. Frances Clairmont graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1981. She then completed a 2-year Residency program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her experience in this Harvard Hospital Dental Program was invaluable when she accepted the position as Director of Ambulatory Dental Services at Carney Hospital and Section Chief of General Dentistry in 1984. In addition, she was appointed Clinical Instructor in the Division of General Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

In 1993, the practice moved to our present location at 673 Bedford Street in Abington next to Compass Medical, a highly recognized multi-specialty medical group. In 2009, our office was enlarged and remodeled, creating a relaxing atmosphere. We have always strived to stay abreast of the latest technology and dental services. Our records are electronic, where patient information and data ate completely confidential and protected. Our exam rooms offer overhead monitors for viewing radiographs, patient education, patient photos, or watching movies or TV shows for the patient’s comfort and relaxation. Abington Dental Associates, Inc. is completely digital. We offer Schick Digital radiographs and a Planmeca Promax panorex machine, which offers digital panographs, TMJ and bitewing views. In addition to the high quality information provided by this new technology, the patient is now exposed to significantly less radiation than with the traditional x-rays. From the very beginning, our patients have always been our priority.

Dr. Kevin Oliveira

Dr. Kevin Oliveira is a native of Mattapoisett, MA where he lives with his wife and son. A graduate of Bishop Stang High School, Dr. Oliveira is a member of the ADA, AAO, Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists, Mass Dental Society, Boston University Orthodontic Alumni Society, and Georgetown Club of Boston. He is board-eligible for the American Board of Orthodontics and has been involved in orthodontic research focusing on biomaterials and new approaches to treatment. Dr. Oliveira is an Invisalign certified provider and has extensive training in the latest developments in orthodontic treatment, including TAD or miniscrew placement and corticotomy-facilitated rapid orthodontic tooth movement.

Dr. Oliveira enjoys golf, snowboarding, and boating. He is life-long fan of the New England area sports teams and spending time with his family and friends. He looks forward to working with the other doctors in the practice to provide modern, efficient orthodontic treatment in a gentle and comfortable way.

Dr. Carlos Abbound

Dr. Carlos Abboud’s specialty training is in periodontics at the Department of Advanced Periodontics and Implant Surgery at Loma Linda University, California.

He is a board certified specialist with a permit in intravenous sedation and holds an advanced cardiac life support certification. In addition to his clinical practice, he had held academic positions as a Clinical Instructor at Loma Linda University, California and at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Carlos Abboud is a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Academy of Periodontology and has been selected as one of “America’s Top Dentists” by the consumers’ Research Council of America in 2009, 2010. Furthermore, he earned numerous honors and fellowships by prestigious societies in North America.

His specialized interest comprise soft tissue reconstructive plastic surgery, cosmetic soft tissue management, smile line enhancement techniques, surgical placement of dental implants, bone grafting procedures, exposure of impacted wisdom teeth and oral surgery.

Dr. John Parkhur

Dr. John Parkhur graduated from the Boston University’s Sargent College of Allied Health, where he majored in Human Physiology. He has always wanted to serve people by improving their health and their lives. He then went on to graduates from Boston University School of Dental Medicine with a DMD degree in 2006. Dr. Parkhur is a military enthusiast and had a desire to serve in the armed forces. That is why he joined the Navy during dental school. After graduating dental school, he was sent to Jacksonville, North Carolina to treat the Marines and Sailors at Camp Lejeune. He completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry in the Navy where he did rotations with Oral Surgeons, Endodontists, Prosthodontists, and Periodontists. He also attended and participated in numerous continuing education seminars and courses ranging from pediatric dentistry to implantology.

Dr. Parkhur enjoys keeping fit and healthy. Some of these hobbies include basketball, mixed martial arts, archery and hiking. He also enjoys reading history, traveling, and trying different cuisines.
